Welcome! This article is part of a new series I’m working on called the Colorful Art & Frame Guide. It shares everything to know about finding, framing and hanging art you love. Hope you enjoy the sneak peek of the series!

This article is all about WHERE to find art, specifically prints. These are my tried & true places when I want a new piece. You’ll find that most of my recommendations result in you shopping for pieces by independent artists. That’s by design, my friend!

Where To shop for art

I know a lot of people struggle with where to find art, so I thought it would be helpful to share a few of my favorite spots and sources.

I love supporting independent artists, so you’ll see several ideas here for discovering their work. There’s something so special about knowing there’s a real person behind a piece—their imagination, their brushstrokes, their story.

Plus, when you bring that kind of art home, it always feels more personal and unique than anything you’ll find in a big-box store.

So here we go! Some of my favorite places (both online and in person!) to hunt for beautiful, unique art…

Artfully Walls

love Artfully Walls. They have an amazing selection, and you can rest assured that every piece is by a real artist.

There are so many fun and whimsical options—it’s one of my go-to sources when I want something colorful and fresh.

Wondering which pieces we own? Here’s a roundup of all Artfully Walls pieces in our house! I’m honestly shocked how many are on there. What can I say– we love art!

Local Markets Or Art Fairs

Local art markets are treasure troves. You can meet the artist, hear the story behind a piece, and find something totally unique that no one else will have. Plus, it’s such a fun weekend activity—and you’ll often discover new favorite makers in your own community.

Thrift Shops

Not only are thrift stores amazing for finding one-of-a-kind frames, but you can also score beautiful vintage art. Sometimes it’s just about looking past the outdated frame or odd mat—swap those out, and suddenly you’ve got something special. I love the mix of old and new on a gallery wall.

Instagram

Yes, you can find so much great art on Instagram! It’s how I discovered Meg of Whistle Pig Studio and Ginny Worsley—two of my absolute favorites. Harrogate House, Little Van Gogh’s, and Becky Boden are others I’ve found through scrolling.

Once you start following artists you love and saving posts that make you smile, Instagram’s clever algorithm will start showing you similar accounts. It will also help you notice patterns and styles you are drawn to.

Coming Up Next: Frames!

Now that you how to find art that you love and where to look for it, the next step is to figure out how to frame it. Spoiler: you don’t need to spend a fortune—paint and DIY can go a long way!

So start that stack: prints, photos, postcards, doodles—whatever makes your heart happy. We’ll frame them together next.
