Remember that summer mix-and-match wardrobe I shared? Y’all LOVED it, and so did I! I used it as a guide all summer and it’s still my go-to as we get into late-summer.

But here we are! Almost fall! Mornings are getting a little crisper, apple orchards are open and football is back! So I think it’s time to trade in our sandals for loafers with frilly socks– we’ll keep it colorful, though!
A Quick Note
I really enjoyed creating this fall fashion roundup, and I made a point to skip the typical fall color palette and find pieces that feel fresh, fun, and a little unexpected.
I do want to point out that you don’t need these exact pieces to create your own capsule wardrobe. I just hope this list inspires you to have fun with your clothes this fall and create a wardrobe that feels like you!
let’s shop!
To make this easy, I’ve broken the wardrobe into categories. As you’ll see, the goal is to build a closet of versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched to create a variety of outfits.
Jeans
I included two pairs that are a staple in my closet for the upcoming season. One pair is the famous barrel style, which is a surprisingly flattering cut—trust me on this!
I also included a pair of high-rise straight-leg jeans, but the most important thing is to choose a style that you feel great in.
Every good capsule wardrobe needs a piece that’s a bit more fun. I love having these green pants because the color adds a pop to any outfit.

Tee Shirts
I’m a tee shirt girl, so these are a must-have for me. My go-to is a white one from AYR, but I also love the yellow/brown striped one because it gives off a retro, ’70s vibe. I included a few blue and white options because I can’t get enough!
Sweaters (& A Linen Shirt!)
No surprise here, I went with color! This checkerboard sweater is my brand in a sweater—I got it from a local shop here in Asheville, and she still has a few sizes left! I also included two solid color sweaters that are perfect for easy mixing and matching.
Denim Jacket
I am really sorry to tell you this, but the Alex Mill denim work jacket is absolutely amazing. It’s perfect. I have had my fair share of denim jackets over the years but absolutely nothing has fit as well as the Britt jacket. It immediately pulls an outfit together and gives an effortlessly cool look.
Sizing: Get your regular size!
My Alex Mill denim jacket is one of my most-loved pieces, but it’s definitely on the pricier side. The Quince denim chore jacket looks super similar for a fraction of the cost…
Bags
I pulled three bags that are both functional and fashionable. The iconic Alex Mill monogrammed tote is a definite must-have!
