Gallery wall in a colorful playroom

If you are trying to add a bit more color to a playroom, start with a gallery wall! This article shares details on ours, including sources and tips for bringing in color.

I knew that I wanted to incorporate a gallery wall into our colorful playroom design. Not only did I already have a lot of artwork, but I wanted a fun place to display pieces by our in-house junior artists.

Tips For A Colorful Gallery Wall

My biggest tip for a playroom gallery wall is to use a lot of color! The prints, the frames, the mats. Have fun with it!

I amped up the fun by not only choosing colorful prints, but also by painting most of the frames. I used our home color palette for the playroom to decide which colors to use. I definitely recommend creating your own color scheme to help guide your design decisions.

I made the green frame in the middle and wrote instructions on a DIY bobbin frame if you want to try your hand at it! It’s a very easy process and much more affordable than buying a large bobbin frame.

We used Command Strips to hang the pieces on the brick. We weren’t sure if they would stick but we haven’t had any issues! Most of the prints are really light, though.

You Are My Sunshine flag: Available at Just One Africa — I purchased ours locally at Horse + Hero in downtown Asheville

Leopard print: Artfully Walls in the 16×20 size (I made the bobbin frame)

National parks poster: Purchased locally at Antique Tobacco Barn. Also available on Amazon.

Rainbow mountains: By Fly With Sparrows (purchased from Horse + Hero) in this frame. The image was a bit smaller than the frame, so I put the mat behind the print and painted it pink. You can see a bit of it sticking out behind the print. I didn’t want to put the mat in front of the image because it would have cut some of it off.

Llama: Eli Halpin mini framed canvas

Camper van: By Cathy Nichols but I don’t see it available anymore!

Paint color: School House White by Farrow & Ball
