We are so excited to share the kids’ bathroom! It’s full of color, fun and whimsy — just the way we like it.
In this article I’ll tour you around the bathroom and break down the entire design process, from how we picked the wallpaper to where we found that happy yellow tile. I’m sharing all the specific paint colors and the full source list so you have everything you need if you see something you love!
Where The Design Started
The bathroom design was inspired by the Animal Kingdom wallpaper by Little Green Paint Co. Truly, I knew it was the one as soon as I saw it– and then all other pieces just kind of fell into place.
The wallpaper print was drawn from a playful 1930s fabric originally used for children’s nursery slipcovers in a grand English country house.
Featuring an imaginative cast of characters like a polar bear, penguins, an elephant, and an ostrich, the Animal Kingdom wallpaper brings an unexpected, whimsical, and global flair that instantly makes the bathroom feel unique and full of life.

A Few Notes On The Design
This was only a bathroom refresh, not a full renovation. We updated the space with new tile, wallpaper, plumbing fixtures, and a vanity. We finished it off by painting the trim a new color and swapping out the light fixtures.
Paint Colors & Wallpaper
As always, our design for this space centers around our core color palette that flows throughout the upstairs kid spaces:

The wallpaper incorporates all of the colors (and more!), so we really didn’t need to do too much to make the space colorful. We painted the trim and door Stone Blue and the mirror Romesco. Oh, and the little tray holding the toothbrush cup was also painted with Romesco.
The little stool in the photo below is also painted in Romesco. Alex made it and it moves between rooms as needed. I love using the same colors throughout the house because it makes it easy to swap pieces around and try new combinations.

The Bathroom Tile
I was so happy that the bathroom tile worked out! We were working on a tight timeline and I had my heart set on yellow.
Yellow isn’t the most common tile color, and I kept finding it available as a 12 week special order only product. Luckily, I found some in stock at OuterCle. It’s actually rated for outdoor use, but also works in showers.
The colors are Biscotti Beige and Dark Dijon in the 4×4 glossy tile. We used Mapei grout and caulk in the Light Almond color. It looks great with the two tile colors!
We left the floor as-is. It’s a white penny tile with gray-ish grout. Honestly I’m glad it worked because we didn’t have the time or budget to change it. Plus, I don’t think I could have handled any more decisions!
Bathroom Fixtures
Now let’s talk about the brushed gold plumbing fixtures! This was one of the last and most stressful decisions, as I was so worried about how the color would translate in the room. We looked at so many brands but it was impossible to tell what the color would look like in person. I
I’m thrilled to report that the brushed gold is absolutely beautiful! The fixtures are by Signature Hardware, and you can genuinely feel the quality—the pieces are sturdy and you can feel it every time you use them.
Bathroom Vanity
I LOVE this vanity so much! It was one of, if not THE most affordable I could find. I saw it last year and have truly been thinking about it since then. I’m so glad it worked in the space!
