Colorful Bedroom with Checkered Wall Reveal and Sources

Updated on:

Bed, desk and shelves in a colorful kids room.

I’m so excited to share all the details and sources for our oldest son’s room! Since he absolutely loves color, that’s exactly where we started. You’ll spot a few dinosaur nods here and there, but mostly, it’s just a wonderfully colorful and happy space.

One Wall At A Time

This room perfectly shows my “one wall at a time” approach! We tackled it bit by bit: first the headboard (I really need to make a DIY guide for that!), then the shelves, followed by the book nook, and finally the checkerboard wall. Even the checkerboard was a two-parter – left side, then right. I just chip away at projects whenever I have a spare moment, which isn’t always a lot!

What I really love is that you don’t immediately see the checkerboard wall when you walk in; it’s actually behind you. But trust me, you definitely can’t miss it on your way out!
