The Kids’ bathroom
We’re so excited to share the kids’ bathroom– it might be our most joyful room yet. Bold wallpaper, cheerful yellow tile, and brushed gold fixtures come together in a space that feels whimsical, intentional, and completely custom (even though most of it came from accessible sources).
This article shares where the design started, all the sources, and, for members– don’t miss my budget breakdown of the materials and how to pull colors from a busy pattern featuring this bathroom.
Where The Design Started
The bathroom design was inspired by the Animal Kingdom wallpaper by Little Greene Paint Co. Truly, I knew it was the one as soon as I saw it, and then all other pieces just kind of fell into place.
The wallpaper features an imaginative cast of characters like a polar bear, penguins, an elephant, and an ostrich. It’s drawn from a playful 1930s fabric originally used for children’s nursery slipcovers in a grand English country house.
Changes We Made
We kept the bathroom layout as-is, and this really helped with the cost and timing for the project. It helped that it’s a small space and there weren’t any other options for where to put things. No big decisions needed!
The changes we made include new tile, wallpaper, plumbing fixtures, and a vanity. We also painted the trim Stone Blue and the mirror Romesco to tie into our upstairs color palette.

The bathroom design centers around our upstairs color palette:
The Animal Kingdom wallpaper incorporates all of these colors, so the rest was simple: Stone Blue on the trim and door, Romesco on the mirror, tray, and stool.
I share more about the color selection process below in the members’ only section.

Vanity
I was very excited to add this to the space! I was surprised to see how affordable it was compared to similar vanities. It’s often on sale, so keep an eye out if you are considering it! We have the 48″ size with one sink.
